I have a water leak....how do I turn off the water supply to stop the leak immediately?

There should be a shutoff outside the house, buried in a cavity that is sometimes referred to as a "buffalo box." If you have a buffalo box, it will generally be found in the ground near the street or the edge of your property. The box will often have a metal or plastic cover. Pry open the cover and look inside with a flashlight. There will be a valve that you can turn by hand or with a long-handled "key" or wrench.

If you need to shut down the system it is usually best to find your external shutoff and use it to shut off the water. Don't depend entirely on an inside shutoff (particularly if you have an older home) -- it can break, leak or stop shutting off.

How can I eliminate the bad smell coming from my waste disposal?
This is indeed a frequently asked question in issues concerning plumbing fix-ups. The bad smell is induced about by food remains trapped inside the disposal. To dispose of the odor, obtain a few ice cubes and a few lemon or orange peelings and place them altogether inside the disposal for 30 seconds. Next, squirt a little liquid dish soap into the disposer whilst it is still running. Lastly, run cold water for about 30 seconds to rinse all the debris away. Contact us today for replacement or repair of a garbage disposal. You can either e-mail or call (386) 673-7708.
What is the main reason why my present water bill is high?
Checking the toilet for leaks might be an appropriate action to take. Attempt to examine the water level in the tank as well to identify whether it is spilling over into the overflow pipe. This is the pipe in the center of the tank which has a small tube connected to it. In case water is running into the overflow pipe, change the fill valve to stop the flow around one inch below the top of the overflow tube or maybe to the water level mark stamped on the side of the tank. Permitting a plumbing professional from Christian Plumbing and Tile to carry out the operation for your plumbing maintenance, you can be ensured of a job well done.
I want a new sink or faucet in my home but I don’t want to do it myself. What options do I have?
Many homeowners are very capable of handling these kinds of jobs by themselves. Some of the bigger home centers even show you how. However, our experience has shown that some projects are better left to the professionals. Yes, we’ve gotten more than a few calls from customers ‘stuck’ in the middle of a project. Christian Plumbing and Tile provides custom builder quality installation and upgrades of sinks, toilets, laundry tubs, laundry hook ups, bathtubs, whirlpool tubs, showers, all kinds of faucets, garbage disposals and more.
How long will my job take?
Each job is different, so broad generalities are difficult. Christian Plumbing and Tile will give you a projected start date, as well as a projected completion date for your project, based upon the scope of the work required.
What if I have a problem, concern or a question during the project?
It is one of our priorities to provide communication about the on-going status of the project to you as the owner, and we are always available to answer your questions and address your concerns.
After my project is complete, if I have a question, or a problem will Christian Plumbing and Tile, Inc. be available to me?

How do I set up an appointment?
Contact us today to schedule your on-on-one consultation. You can either e-mail or call (386) 673-7708.
I have low water pressure in my home. What can I do about it?
There are several things that could cause low water pressure, including a partially closed or malfunctioning shutoff valve, a crimped water line, or deposits that gather in older galvanized pipes. If your neighbors have strong water pressure, the problem is most likely somewhere between the water meter and your home. A qualified plumbing professional from Christian Plumbing and Tile will be able to identify the problem and explain your options.
What is the difference between conventional water heaters and tankless water heaters?
Conventional water heaters are by far the most common type of water heater in the U.S. today. They range in size from 20 to 80 gallons (or larger), and they are fueled by electricity, natural gas, propane or oil. Often called storage units, these water heaters transfer heat from a burner or coil to water in an insulated tank. The downside of a conventional water heater is that energy is consumed even when no hot water is being used. Tankless water heaters, on the other hand, do not contain a storage tank like conventional water heaters. A gas burner or electric element heats the water only when there is a demand for hot water. There are many things to consider when choosing a water-heating system. Christian Plumbing and Tile can guide you through your options and help you get the right system for your home, one that will serve you for years with efficient performance.
I think my toilet is leaking. Is there a test I can do to confirm this suspicion?
Yes! All you have to do is put a few drops of food coloring into your toilet tank. Wait a few minutes and then look in the toilet bowl. If you see that your bowl has the same color, then you've got a leak! The scary part is you are probably wasting hundreds of gallons of water each month! Call Christian Plumbing and Tile. We can install a low-flow toilet that will not only save you water and money, but will flush better than anything you have ever had in the past.
I have a water leak but don’t know where it is. How much to fix it?
The first priority is to find out where the leak is. We will have to perform a leak detection to isolate the leak and then we’ll know how much to charge for the job. There are several way to locate a leak depending on where we suspect it to be. Call us for more particulars about how we will be able to help you.
